I’m stuck trying to get an Arducam 16MP autofocus camera working on a Jetson Nano 2GB. The weird part is the same camera works fine on a Raspberry Pi, so the module itself seems okay.
Thanks for the detailed report. We can see the driver install is failing, but the underlying cause isn’t clear yet — we need to reproduce it on our side first. We’ll run some tests and get back to you with the results.
The fact that the camera works fine on the Pi but fails on the Nano 2GB is a useful clue. We’ll dig into it.
Not sure if my screenshot went through in the last post, so re-posting. Still failing at the “16MP Autofocus Camera on Jetson Nano and Xavier NX” step.
For reference, I’ve tried:
both directed (jp461) and 2GB-jp461 SD card images
Okay, we found the problem — it was a bug in the install process, and it’s now fixed. Please reinstall using the install script:
./install_full.sh -l
./install_full.sh -m imx519
One more thing: for the 64MP camera you mentioned, a 64MP driver hasn’t been released yet. Also note that due to Jetson hardware limitations, it can only accept up to 24MP images max.
Thanks for the fix. I have a separate question about the larger sensors, because it affects our whole plan.
We did a proof-of-concept with an Arducam 48MP camera on forklifts, but it only worked on the Raspberry Pi — not on the Jetson Nano. For our use case, the Pi isn’t really appropriate for industrial deployment.
Will the new Jetson Orin (Nano or larger) support the Arducam 48MP and/or 64MP sensors?
Per NVIDIA’s documentation, the Jetson Nano supports only up to a 24MP sensor. The new Orin has eight lanes MIPI CSI-2 | D-PHY 2.1 (20 Gbps). We have an Orin dev kit in-house and are planning to get an Orin Nano and the next model for testing.
On the Orin question — we don’t have a confirmed answer for 48MP/64MP support yet. As mentioned, there’s no 64MP driver released at the moment, and we still need to validate these sensors on Orin hardware. The Orin’s eight lanes of MIPI CSI-2 with D-PHY 2.1 (20 Gbps) gives us a lot more headroom than the Nano’s 24MP limit, but I can’t confirm 48MP/64MP support until we’ve actually tested. We have an Orin dev kit in-house and will be testing with the Orin Nano and the next model.
Restarting this project now. Our goal is to use the Arducam 64MP camera on the NVIDIA Orin.
To recap my earlier question: will the Orin (Nano or larger) support the 48MP and/or 64MP sensors? Our 48MP proof-of-concept only worked on Pi, not Jetson Nano. We have the Orin dev kit in-house and are looking at the Orin Nano and the next model for testing.
16MP autofocus (imx519): the install bug is fixed. Use ./install_full.sh -l followed by ./install_full.sh -m imx519.
48MP/64MP on Orin: a 64MP driver has not been released yet. Keep in mind the Jetson Nano itself is limited to 24MP sensor support. For Orin, we still need to validate these larger sensors — we have an Orin dev kit in-house and will test with the Orin Nano and the next model. I’ll post back once we have results.
