Hi everyone, I’m stuck trying to set up an Arducam 12MP stereo camera on a Jetson Orin and could use some help. The kit I have is the Arducam 12MP 2 synchronized stereo camera bundle kit for Jetson Nano/Xavier NX - two 12.3MP IMX477 camera modules with CS lenses plus the Camarray stereo camera HAT. The Orin is running L4T R35.3.1 with kernel 5.10.104-tegra. I followed the tutorial up to the driver install step, but on the Arducam GitHub I only see two driver versions - one for Jetson Nano and one for Jetson Xavier NX. There’s nothing for the Orin. I tried installing one of them anyway and got incompatibility errors between the nvidia-l4t-core versions. Does anyone know where to get a driver for the Orin on R35.3.1?
Those two GitHub drivers are built for Nano and Xavier NX specifically, so the nvidia-l4t-core version conflict is expected when you try to force one onto the Orin. The Orin is actually supported - you just need to look at the official supported device list in the Arducam Jetson camera documentation rather than those GitHub releases. L4T 35.3.1 is on the supported list. Check here: Introduction to Arducam Jetson Cameras - Arducam Wiki and use the driver from that page.
Thanks, that was the missing piece. I found the driver through the docs and it installed cleanly this time, no more version errors. The driver side looks sorted now.
Good, glad the install went through. Have you been able to pull any frames yet? If anything fails once you actually start streaming, post the exact command or code you’re running and the full error output so we can dig in.
So I spoke too soon. After the driver install I tried to actually access the stereo camera and hit another wall. The gstreamer command from the tutorial returns ‘Internal data stream error’, and the Python example code from the tutorial does the same thing. I also tried a 108MP Arducam camera I have - opening it in the GUI works with no errors, but as soon as it tries to display frames it shows ‘USB timeout error’ every time an image should be acquired. So the stereo kit fails with ‘Internal data stream error’ in gstreamer and Python, and the 108MP fails with ‘USB timeout error’ in the GUI.
Thanks for the detail. Just to recap where this stands: the original problem was the Orin driver, and that part is resolved - the docs confirm L4T 35.3.1 is supported, and you’ve got the right driver installed. What’s still open are two separate runtime failures: the stereo IMX477 kit returning ‘Internal data stream error’ from both the gstreamer pipeline and the Python sample, and the 108MP camera returning ‘USB timeout error’ in the GUI whenever it tries to capture a frame. We don’t have a fix for either of those yet. Next step, it would help to see the full gstreamer pipeline you ran and the complete error output, plus any camera-related lines from dmesg right after the stream fails. Same idea for the 108MP - grab dmesg output while the GUI is trying to acquire. The two errors might be unrelated, but the logs should give us a clue.
