Arducam 12MP 477P PTZ Camera not working on Raspberry Pi 5

Hi all, I’ve got an Arducam 12MP 477P PTZ camera (SKU B0167B12) and I’m trying to get it running on a Raspberry Pi 5. The problem is all the setup instructions I can find are written for the Pi 4 and below, and they don’t seem to work on the Pi 5. Has anyone managed to get this camera working on a Pi 5?

Hi, welcome to the forum. To help troubleshoot, can you tell me a bit more about your setup? Which OS image are you running on the Pi 5, and how exactly is the camera connected (ribbon cable, any adapter boards, which connector)? Also, when you follow the Pi 4 instructions, what exactly do you see — any error output?

Thanks for the reply. It’s a Raspberry Pi 5, and the camera is the Arducam 12MP 477P PTZ Camera for Raspberry Pi 4/3B+/3 and Jetson Nano/Xavier NX, IR-Cut Switchable with metal base and 2 digital servos (SKU: B0167B12). I followed the Raspberry Pi instructions and tried to adapt them for the Pi 5, but I couldn’t get the camera to work. I don’t have any code or logs to share at the moment. I’ve also sent the filled-out support form through private message.

Thanks. Can you post a picture of the hardware connection between the camera and the Pi 5? And could you run a couple of quick checks and paste the results:

dmesg | grep -i arducam
libcamera-hello --list-cameras

That will show whether the system sees the camera at all.

Here’s what I get: dmesg | grep -i arducam returns nothing, and libcamera-hello --list-cameras says no cameras available. So it looks like the Pi isn’t detecting the camera at all.

Thanks, that points toward a detection or connection issue, but the root cause isn’t clear yet. To dig into it, please generate a bug report so we can see the full kernel and camera state. First reboot the device:

sudo reboot

Then download and run the bug report tool:

wget -O arducam-camera-bug-report https://github.com/ketai-dhr/arducam-camera-bug-report/releases/download/tools/arducam-camera-bug-report
chmod +x ./arducam-camera-bug-report
sudo ./arducam-camera-bug-report

This will produce an arducam-bug-report.txt file in the current directory.

Done. I rebooted and ran the tool, and it created arducam-bug-report.txt in my home directory. I’ve sent the file over via private message for analysis. Anything else I should try in the meantime?

Thanks, we’ve got the report and are reviewing it now. To summarize where things stand: the camera isn’t being detected on the Pi 5, and the existing Pi 4 instructions don’t apply cleanly, but we don’t have a confirmed root cause yet. We’ll look through the bug report and follow up here once we have something.
