Hi, I’m trying to get camera drivers working for a Jetson AGX Xavier and I’m stuck. I’m using four AR1335 sensors and when I run the install it just bails out. Is it even possible to get drivers for the AGX Xavier, or is there some specific package I need? Any help appreciated, I’m fairly new to this.
Hi, happy to help. Before we go further I need a couple of details about your setup so I can point you at the right package. Could you tell me: which exact Jetson board you have (and the RAM variant), the output of uname -a or your kernel version, and the full text of the error you see when the install fails? If you can paste the terminal output from the install command, that’s ideal.
Sure. The board is a Jetson AGX Xavier [16GB]. Kernel version is:
5.10.104-tegra-35.1.0-20220810203728
And here’s what I get when I run the install script:
Cannot find the corresponding deb package, please send the following information to [email protected]
Kernel version: 5.10.104-tegra-35.1.0-20220810203728
Jetson type: AGX Xavier [16GB]
Thanks, that log is actually pretty informative. That message means the install script looked for a prebuilt .deb matching your exact kernel/board combo, didn’t find one in the package set, and stopped. So the script itself is fine, it just has no matching package for what it detected.
A couple of quick questions so I can narrow this down:
- Which Arducam camera model are you actually using (the e-CAM number on the board or the listing you bought it from)?
- Can you run
lsb_release -aandcat /etc/nv_tegra_releaseand paste both? I want to confirm the L4T release. - Did you install from a package we provided, or are you running the install directly from a repo?
The camera is an e-CAM130_CUXVR, I think. I also keep seeing ‘e-CAM130A CUXVR’ mentioned in some places - are those the same thing or different? I’m asking because what I really need is the source code for the e-CAM130 CUXVR so I can try building it myself, and if the 130A is identical I’d take the source for that too.
For reference this ties back to a message I sent with the subject ‘Drivers for Jetson Xavier AGX’ a while ago. Same problem.
Here’s the L4T info:
# R35 (release), REVISION: 1.0, GCID: 31250864, BOARD: t186ref, EABI: aarch64
Ok that confirms it - R35.1.0 on a t186ref board, i.e. AGX Xavier. Let me be straight with you about where things stand, because I don’t want you chasing a package that doesn’t exist.
Arducam’s camera drivers currently only support the Jetson Nano and the Jetson Nx. We have not yet supported the AGX Xavier. So there’s no matching .deb for your board in the installer - that’s exactly why it prints ‘Cannot find the corresponding deb package’. It’s not a version mismatch you can fix by tweaking the script; there’s simply no build for that platform.
Hmm, that’s disappointing. So does that also mean there’s no source code for the e-CAM130 CUXVR at all? I was really hoping I could at least get the source and compile the kernel modules against 5.10.104-tegra myself. Even a reference driver would help. Is there anything on the AGX Xavier side, or a branch that isn’t officially supported I could try?
I get why you’d want that. Unfortunately because the AGX Xavier isn’t supported, we don’t have the e-CAM130 CUXVR source code available for it either - there’s no AGX-targeted source we can hand out that would build cleanly against that kernel, so I don’t want to send you something that’ll just fail to compile and burn your time.
Just to close the loop on your earlier question: the e-CAM130 CUXVR and e-CAM130A CUXVR naming you saw refers to the same camera line, so that won’t get you around the platform limitation - the blocker is the AGX Xavier board itself, not which variant of the camera you have.
Understood. So to summarize - the AGX Xavier is just not supported, and there’s no driver or source for it. Is that something that might change later, or should I plan on a different Jetson board (Nano/Nx) if I want to use these AR1335 sensors?
Right, that’s the current state: the AGX Xavier isn’t supported, so there are no drivers and no e-CAM130 CUXVR source available for it, and I’m sorry we can’t offer a fix right now. At the moment our camera drivers only cover the Jetson Nano and Nx, so if you need these AR1335 sensors running today, one of those boards is the path that has supported packages. If support for the AGX Xavier gets added later, it’d show up in the driver package downloads for the e-CAM130 CUXVR. Sorry again that we couldn’t get this working on your current board.
